Summer is finally here and vacations are underway! While on vacation back injury can still occur. This month we are going to be giving you tips on how to lift properly so that you do not injure your back, especially while on vacation.
1 Minute Back Clinic
We all should know how to lift properly to avoid unnecessary low back injury. Here are a few guidelines to follow when lifting a heavy object.
- Clear all obstacles from your path
- Make sure your footing is solid
- Keep your back straight, bending at your knees
- Stand close to the object; center your body with feet shoulder width apart
- Grasp the object firmly
- Lift with your legs, keeping your back straight
- To turn, move your feet; do not twist your back
- Reverse this sequence when setting the object down
- If the load is awkward or too heavy always ask for help
Remember to use your head before you use your back!!
